About CartFreeze

My Story: Why I Built CartFreeze

I'm Kapil Joshi, from India. I started CartFreeze on my own, without a team, to solve a very simple problem.

Many of us want to shop less, but when we see something we like, it is hard to hold back. Sometimes we buy things we do not really need, simply on impulse.

I wondered: what if we gave ourselves 48 hours before paying? A short pause might lead to a better decision.

That idea became CartFreeze. I built it step by step, and I have tried to keep it simple and honest.

My goal is not to stop anyone from shopping. I want to give people a chance to take back control of impulse purchases, and to put the money they choose not to spend toward their goals.

I have also learned that wanting something and needing it are two different things. Often, a short pause is all it takes to see which one it is.

CartFreeze is for people who want to spend less but find it hard to stop themselves in the moment.

Pause for 48 hours. Think it through. Then the decision is yours.

Freeze the cart. Save the cash.

What CartFreeze is

CartFreeze is a small, free tool that helps you pause before an impulse purchase. You enter what you are tempted to buy and its price, and freeze it for 48 hours. If you choose to enter your monthly income, CartFreeze also shows what that price means in hours of your own work. When the 48 hours are over, the decision is yours, and you tell the tool honestly whether you bought the item.

It is a mindfulness aid for everyday spending. It is not a cure for any condition, and it is not a financial service.

How it works

  1. Enter the item you want to buy and its price. Your monthly income is optional.
  2. Start the freeze. The 48-hour timer keeps running even if you close the page.
  3. When the time is up, tell CartFreeze whether you bought the item.
  4. Only if you did not buy it does the amount count as a saving, and the item moves to your Wishlist Graveyard. Ending a freeze early never counts.

Goals, levels and badges

The tool shows your totals, a monthly history, and badges such as CartFreeze Champion, which unlocks after five completed freezes, with a small celebration each time you keep your money. All of these are worked out from the choices you record yourself.
